Knowing and understanding of the arts may also help children to express themselves in different creative art forms in which they are comfortable in. Art nurtures the child to be inventiveness as it engages the child in a process that helps in the development of self-esteem, self-discipline, cooperation, and self-motivation. Childrens self-esteem will improve as there is not right or wrong in self creative creation. In this way, childrens are able to complete task with self-discipline and longer patience in completing an art piece regardless whether it is an drawing and painting piece or a dance and music piece. Working cooperatively will also be enhanced childrens patience such as dancing together with music and other children to produce a wonderful piece of musical. Most importantly children needs to be self-motivated to have the interest in arts. At times while working with each other to produce an art piece also needs problem solving, contributing ideas and respecting each other. Each child will have to communicate in a variety ways to express their thoughts and produce the art piece they want it to be. The belief that art education should encourage the childs creativity, imagination, and expression did not mean that all previous pedagogies were replaced. (Jolley, 2010) Imagination helps children with expression in dancing and also helped in language to find the correct vocabulary to describe their expression. Childs creativity should not be obstructed or corrected by the adults or educators. Updated pedagogies helps to improve and also work on the previous believes. Forms of art In terms of aesthetic and creative education, dance has much to share with drama, music and the visual arts. (Davies, 2003) Dancing is an activity that needs time to work on and gain wide experience. It needs to work with choreographing of movements and music together by trying out and composing the art piece. Performing can be taken to mean to do, to show, to dance, creating as making, trying out, or composing, while appreciation is the outcome of watching, viewing, talking about and drawing about dance. Children will be able to choose the right movement they would want to include into their dance. Educators may also guide children choosing the instrument they would like to use for the movement using different sounds. For example, the sound of the fast ringing bells can be the movement of running. Another form of art is drawing. Drawing from observation still represents a key component of statutory art education for children aged 5 to 14 years of age. (Jolley 2010 ) Drawing involves imagination and creativity and expression. Drawing helps children to express their thoughts with different kinds of lines and shapes. Observation also plays an important part in drawing. For example, children may observe a stalk of flower or the movements of the grass when the wind blows and draw the expression of what they have observed using different lines. For example, curvy lines, straight lines and zig-zag lines. Once children are allowed to make representational drawings, rather than mere line and shape, they are often directed towards forms of subject matter such as cubes, cones, prisms, and so on, whether copies from pictures of three-dimensional models. (Jolley,2010) Children may also move to a higher level to explore drawing representational drawings with their imagination. Educators may guide children by introducing the drawing of different lines such as horizontal line, vertical line, wavy line and spiral line. Students will then apply what they have learnt in their drawings. Students will also need to be given opportunities to observe the environment around them , space for creativity and imagination. Children are then taught to draw more controlled lines. (Jolley, 2010) Teachers go for PD? (Kindergarten Curriculum Guide) Children will also be given opportunity to appreciate, learn and explore the different sounds made by the instruments. Conclusion Art is important in young childrens education as it is one of the ways to help children to express themselves through different channels such as dance, drama and visual arts. Children need not to be afraid making mistakes as art promotes creativity, imagination and expressions. It is also essential to have arts education in the school, so as to have educators to guide the students and giving then opportunities to explore different kinds of art such as visual arts, drama and music and movement.

“Briar Rose” by Anne Sexton †Analysis Essay

Anne Sexton completely altered the fairy tale, Briar Rose. The original tale was a straight forward story that can lead the reader to come up with a moral. It was one that also had a happy ending. When Anne Sexton tells us her version of Briar Rose, she immediately begins by giving the reader a view of what Briar Rose’s sleep is like. She tells us of how Briar Rose feels, and gives the reader some what of an introduction to the ways of Briar Rose. After this psychedelic section of a girl, Briar Rose, who keeps â€Å"slipping off into a hypnotist’s trance† (lines 4-6), Sexton begins telling the tale. Once Sexton gets into the tale, most of the lines consist of a summary of what truly happens in the fairy tale. Sexton, however, does add several parts that help the reader understand the story from Sexton’s perspective; † The King looked like Munch’s ‘Scream'† (line 43). Line 100 was the most important line in the poem. After finishing her synopsis of the fairy tale with, â€Å"She married the prince and all went well† (lines 98-99), she immediately adds â€Å"except for the fear – the fear of sleep.† (lines 100-101). After this line, Sexton begins a new stanza on Briar Rose’s future, differing a lot from the fairy tale’s â€Å"†¦ and they lived happily ever after.† Sexton begins telling the reader how Briar Rose will become an insomniac. She also begins applying some of today’s modern day medicine to the story, by saying that Briar Rose would be unable to sleep â€Å"†¦without the court chemist mixing her some knock-out drops† (lines 106-107). From that point on, Anne Sexton slowly applies her life to the poem, and adds the parts of her like that she has trouble with into her poem. It seems as though she does this almost unconsciously and unintentionally. By line 120, Anne Sexton has completely replaced herself with Briar Rose. She continuously uses I in Briar Rose’s place. Now she has completely applied modern day technology, saying things like â€Å"I’m all shot up with Novocain†. She clearly places herself in the novel and tells the reader about her life. She replaces the happy parts of the poem with parts that may have been different in her life. â€Å"Daddy? That’s another kind of prison. Its not the prince at all, but my father, drunkenly bent over my bed†¦Ã¢â‚¬  (lines 150-154). This shows that her father may have abused her and may have limited her lifestyle as he was â€Å"circling the abyss like a shark, my father thick upon me† (lines 155-156). He also may have been an alcoholic. She also shows how once Briar Rose had truly died once she was fifteen, even though she was truly just put into a 100 year sleep. Her life of fear and insomnia was now nearly a reincarnation, or a â€Å"life after death† (line 161), of her terrible existence.

The idea was that after restoring Germany to what he considered its rightful position, Hitler wouldn’t start a new European conflict. It was a mistake. After the Anschluss of Austria and occupation of Sudetenland and other territories in Eastern Europe, Germany signed a Nonaggression Pact with the Soviet Union on August 23, 1939, delineating spheres of influence of both dictatorships in Europe. Although France and Great Britain declared war on Germany early on, their aid to beleaguered Poland was extremely limited. What followed is often called the Phoney War – Hitler offered Great Britain and France peace on the basis of recognizing German dominance in continental Europe – but it finally dawned on European leaders just how much Hitler’s promises and treaties are actually worth. Up until May of 1940 the hostilities between Germany and other European powers almost ceased. Meanwhile, the USSR got involved in a debacle known as the Winter War. After Finland refused to cede territory, Soviets invaded the country. Joseph Stalin didn’t expect this small and insignificant state to mount any kind of resistance, but was gravely mistaken – despite having overwhelming quantitative and technological superiority, the USSR only barely managed to win the war, losing more than 300,000 men and foregoing the intention of installing a puppet Communist government in Finland.
